It's not about ME! Instead, life is about being resilient enough to overcome obstacles, facing new challenges, and being part of the solution. This past Monday, the DCSC Board of Trustees voted to approve my reassignment to assistant principal/tech director at the elementary level. Yes, I am deeply saddened to 'give up' the 4/5 High Ability Class, however, I am excited to remain an integral part of a wonderful system we have in place at DCES. I will miss seeing the kids (for 7+ hours a day) that I have become accustomed to over the last year (the outgoing 4th graders), but I know I will still see them and be able to laugh with them, assist them, and nurture them as they continue to grow. I challenge the students to continue to take 'control' of their education by being intrinsically motivated to do things, explore their own interests, and find themselves part of the solution (just as I hope I have in my new role). Drop me a line over the summer, update your blog, share an email, discuss a book.........keep sharp! Love you all and see you in less than two months - I'll be the guy wearing a new hat! Oh, just so you know, 4/5 HA is in great hands............if you want to know who will work with you, drop me a line:)
P.S. The Maze Runner was an excellent book! Yes, I stepped outside of my comfort zone and liked a 'fantasy' type book!
Upcoming events:
Enjoy your summer - all of you! Visit the beach, build a sandcastle, walk through the woods, visit your relatives, cook supper for your parents, write a letter to someone AND mail it, call Mr. Shidler, go out for ice cream on successive nights, buy a hot dog for the person next to you in line at the field, read a book outside your preferred genre, and enjoy each and every moment!
